How it Works
AIRWAAV is backed by over 15 years of peer-reviewed, published research to provide baseball and softball players game-changing performance results on and off the field.
INCREASE BAT SPEED
AIRWAAV has been proven to increase bat speed in baseball and softball players by 5.8%, as supported by a detailed study conducted at the University of South Florida. This research, involving collegiate athletes, found that athletes achieved their fastest swings when clenching their jaw with the mouthpiece in place.
INCREASE STRENGTH
AIRWAAV’S patented bite plate is engineered to align the jaw and ensure full tooth contact during clenching. This specific contact plays a pivotal role in accelerating the body’s neuromuscular response. When an athlete clenches their jaw with AIRWAAV, it triggers a more immediate and powerful muscle engagement throughout the body. This heightened response effectively counters the body’s instinctive restraint on muscle usage, unlocking greater muscular force and power.
INCREASE ENDURANCE
The AIRWAAV Performance Mouthpiece is designed to enhance endurance by optimizing breathing efficiency during exercise. When the user gently clenches onto the mouthpiece and positions their tongue downward and forward beneath the front intake bar, a reflex is triggered within the body. This reflex action facilitates the opening of the airway, contributing to a reduction in respiratory rate by up to 20%. The decrease in respiratory rate lowers lactic acid production and perceived exertion, allowing athletes to sustain higher intensity levels for longer periods of time.
FASTER RECOVERY
Scientifically proven to reduce cortisol levels by up to 50% after exercise, AIRWAAV plays a crucial role in accelerating recovery times for athletes. Cortisol, often referred to as the stress hormone, can impede the body’s healing process. By substantially lowering these levels, AIRWAAV aids in faster muscle recovery, reduces fatigue, and prepares athletes for their next performance more efficiently.
IMPROVE MOBILITY
By clenching onto the mouthpiece, there is a reduction in muscle tension, or muscle tone, which plays a pivotal role in improving mobility. This relaxation of muscles is especially beneficial during movements requiring rotation in the neck, shoulders, hips, or trunk. The improved mobility allows for a greater range of motion and fluidity in movements.
A PERFORMANCE MOUTHPIECE DESIGNED FOR THE DIAMOND
AIRWAAV is a lower fitting mouthpiece that sits on your bottom teeth and helps position your jaw and tongue in the optimal position. When AIRWAAV is in, you will experience improved strength, endurance, and mobility benefits – allowing you to perform at your full potential on the field and in the gym.
AIRWAAV PX1 PERFORMANCE
The AIRWAAV PX1 Performance Mouthpiece is designed with an open bite channel – ideal for athletes who prefer a relaxed fit during use. The PX1 is often preferred for strength training, CrossFit, strongman, baseball & softball, golf, tennis, basketball, and HIIT.
HOW TO USE AIRWAAV
1. Begin by placing the AIRWAAV mouthpiece onto your lower teeth. Ensure it sits comfortably and aligns correctly with your dental structure. Next, gently bite down on the mouthpiece. This clenching action is crucial as it positions your jaw in an optimal manner, enhancing the neuromuscular response necessary for the mouthpiece’s effectiveness
2. While maintaining the clench, position your tongue down and forward, resting it underneath the intake bar. The tongue’s placement, combined with its contact with the material inside your molars, prompts the tongue to flex. This flexing action plays a pivotal role in opening your airway more effectively, thereby improving oxygen (O2) and carbon dioxide (CO2) exchange during intense physical activity.

Frequently Asked Questions
Like most things the AIRWAAV™ Performance Mouthpiece (device) will take some time to get used to. After molding we suggest getting used to your mouth and body used to the device by using it in a “shorter” workout. That could be a short HIIT workout or even a shorter run. The device is made of a special material that can be remolded but we’ve found after a few (three to five) wears/uses the body will get used to the device and it will fit perfectly.
AIRWAAV offers two versions: HIIT and Endurance. Both versions provide the same benefits, but they differ in fit and usage.
- HIIT Mouthpiece: Offers a relaxed fit that rests on top of the lower teeth. Users will see minimal bite marks as this version does not impress to the teeth (hence the relaxed fit). To customize the fit, you can heat it up in the microwave and leave it in your mouth for 2 minutes.
- Endurance Mouthpiece: Offers a tight and snug fit. It features a gummy material designed for biting during lifts. The patented material will shrink once it cools, creating a custom, locked down fit. To achieve the perfect fit, heat it up in the microwave and bite down firmly, leaving it in for 3-5 minutes.
AIRWAAV operates on a simple yet ingenious principle: optimal jaw alignment. By directing your tongue down and forward, this mouthpiece gently widens your airway while simultaneously igniting cortical brain function. The result? A game-changing enhancement to your performance.

AIRWAAV® Performance Mouthpiece (device) is built to support your training no matter what sport you’re playing. However, it is NOT built/constructed in any way to protect your teeth during contact sports. So if you’re playing a contact sport please do not use AIRWAAV® to project your teeth. But if you’re competing in an event that is a non-contact sport we highly recommend you use the device in both your training and competition.
A “How-to” video and fitting device are available on the AIRWAAV® website. A microwave is the recommended method for fitting.
Absolutely! In fact, we have peer-reviewed, published research. Visit airwaav.com to review the studies or feel free to email customerservice@airwaav.com with any questions.
The AIRWAAV™ Performance Mouthpiece is backed by 15 years of research and development including peer-reviewed published articles about its efficacy. It is patented and is different from every other device because it’s built to support both your strength and conditioning work. In addition to supporting both strength and conditioning work AIRWAAV® supports your recovery by reducing extra strain on the body (lower BPM) and by lowering cortisol levels.
Yes, that should be fine, for people with smaller mouths, we recommend trimming the ends of the mouthpiece.
